Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 1, 2026. This policy explains what we collect when you use Benefit Compass and how we use it.
Information you provide
When you use our eligibility screener we collect the answers you give — such as ZIP code, household size, approximate income range, and household circumstances. If you choose to unlock your report, we also collect your first name and email address.
We do not ask for your Social Security number, bank account details, or government ID.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we collect basic technical and usage data through cookies and analytics tools, including page views, device and browser type, referring source, and marketing campaign parameters. We use Google Analytics and advertising pixels (such as Meta and Reddit) to measure how our pages and ads perform.
How we use your information
We use your information to generate your eligibility estimates, deliver your report, keep the service secure, measure and improve performance, and — only if you opt in — send you emails about benefits, program updates, or related offers.
Sharing
We do not sell your questionnaire answers to data brokers. We share information with service providers who operate our website, database, analytics, and email delivery on our behalf, and with advertising platforms in de-identified or hashed form for campaign measurement. We may also disclose information when required by law.
If you choose to click an optional third-party recommendation, that company's own privacy policy governs anything you share with them.
Your choices
Email marketing is optional and off by default. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information at any time by emailing help@benefitscompass.org. You can also disable cookies in your browser settings.
Data retention and security
We keep submitted information only as long as needed for the purposes described above and protect it with industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children
Benefit Compass is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy from time to time and will revise the date above when we do. Questions? Email help@benefitscompass.org.
