About Benefit Compass
Benefit Compass helps households quickly understand which government assistance programs they may qualify for — for free, in about two minutes.
What we do
Millions of people miss out on assistance they are eligible for simply because the rules are confusing and spread across dozens of agencies. Benefit Compass asks a short set of household questions, compares your answers against published federal and state program guidelines, and shows you an estimated list of programs worth exploring — along with links to the official application for each one.
What we are not
Benefit Compass is a privately operated website. We are not a government agency, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any federal, state, or local agency. We do not accept or process benefit applications, and we cannot approve or deny benefits. Only the agency that administers a program can determine your eligibility.
How our results are produced
Estimates are generated from the answers you provide and publicly available program guidelines such as income limits and household size thresholds. Because agencies verify details we do not collect, your actual eligibility and benefit amounts may differ from our estimates.
How we stay free
Our eligibility screener is free to use and always will be. We may earn compensation from optional third-party recommendations shown separately from your government benefit results. Those relationships never influence which government programs we show you or the order in which they appear. See our Advertising Disclosure for details.
